Valencia Tourism again awarded at Routes Europe

Valencia Tourism has been for second year in a row recognized by the airlines at Europe Routes.

Last year Valencia Tourism was “Highly Commended” for its excellence in Marketing Destination, this year 2014 it’s been “Category Winner”- being recognized as best European Tourism Board (for its work to improve air connectivity)

The annual Routes awards are highly regarded as the most prestigious awards in the industry as they are voted for and judged by the airline network planning community.  They provide the airline community with the chance to have their say as to which airport or tourism authority they think provides the best overall marketing services to them whether this relates to their particular relationship, effective results, provision of data and information or innovative techniques to establish new or maintain and develop existing routes.

Valencia Tourism: Highly Commended Destination

As I informed you in my previous post Valencia Tourism was nominated for the Routes Europe Marketing Awards which were given last Monday night at the Gala Dinner in Budapest.

It was an exciting moment… the Awards are judged by a pannel of five Airline Network Specialists and they decided to “Highly Commend” Valencia Tourism for its “Excellence in Marketing Destination“.

This is- no doubt- in recognition of the effort and the approach to Airlines to achieve new routes and the support to maintain the existing ones performed by Valencia Tourism. To define this interactive model, working with Airlines, Airports, Tourism Industry, Media and focusing on Travellers (not just tourists) we have used a diamond.

Valencia Tourism is the first city Tourism Organization getting this award in Europe. Other awards were for two islands: Tenerife and Malta.

And the Oscar goes to …

It’s a long time that we are working with Airlines … and with Airports… as most of tourists coming from outside Spain come by plane. So that’s something very important … for doing that job- recently powered by Valencia Tourism with a new brand: FLY VALENCIA (@FlyVLC).

The organizers from the most important events for Airlines and Airports: “Routes” have nominated “Valencia Tourism” for the Destination Award in the Routes Airports Marketing Awards– something like the “Oscars for Airports”. This is the first year that they create this category for Tourism Organizations, so it gives much more value.

The nomination recognizes the good work in marketing and promotion performed in cooperation with Airlines and Airports. Award will be announced next 13th May. I will keep you informed!

But that’s not the only good new … over 7,000 copies of Routes News, mailed to the prime target audience of the World Route Development Forum and Routes Regional events, namely 400 airlines and 550 airport operators around the world show this month an article about Valencia Teamwork between Airport, Valencia Tourism and Airlines to promote the destination. Routes News is now also available as a digital magazine, allowing readers and advertisers to access the publication wherever they are, at any time. Valencia is again in a European TOP10 … this time in the TOP10 from Tripadvisor Traveller’s Choice in the category “Destinations on the rise”.
